One of the big news items this week is that Obama threw an extravagant Halloween party at the White House in 2009, complete with decorations by Hollywood director Tim Burton and an appearance by Johnny Depp in full Mad Hatter gear. That Obama threw this kind of lavish party at the height of American economic pain shows exactly how entitled and out-of-touch this president really is....

I’ve long believed that questioning Barack Obama’s citizenship status – more specifically whether he was born in the US or elsewhere – has been a distraction from the more important debate: whether or not he should be elected to a second term.

Many politicians seek the office for power and prestige. They run on platforms based on what appear to be recently-acquired convictions, and their stances change as often as the poll numbers.
