Many politicians seek the office for power and prestige. They run on platforms based on what appear to be recently-acquired convictions, and their stances change as often as the poll numbers.
When a candidate who has a record of supporting his beliefs long before even contemplating a run for public office, it’s refreshing and it reminds us that not everyone running for office has questionable motives.
Phil Moffett has a long record of public service and civic engagement. Phil has long believed that Kentucky needs education reform – but he didn’t just complain about it. Thirteen years ago, Phil started Kentucky’s only private school voucher program, School Choice Scholarships (SCS). To date, over 3,600 Kentucky students are receiving a better education because of Phil Moffett’s willingness to put his money where his mouth is.
I don’t know about you, but I think it’s time we started electing more people like Phil Moffett.
If Phil Moffett puts his money where his mouth is then let me ask you this. Where does his own children go to school at? Is it in a private school or is it in one of the School Choice Scholarships he likes to talk so much about? I bet I can tell you…..he home schools his kids. Is that putting his money where his mouth is or not?
Mary,
Phil’s children are all home-schooled, which he wholeheartedly supports. Many parents are unable to homeschool their children, however, and I think we can all agree that those children shouldn’t be required to attend failing schools. If not for Moffett’s SCS program, those 3600 students wouldn’t have had any choice.
Bryan, in my view, Moffett stands an excellent chance of winning having read the reasons Kentuckians should vote for him.
I am sorry not to be in a position to assist financially but I can give the following comment/advice: Expend your effort and money as required to get the Republicans to wise up and settle on one best candidate.
The leadership has to LEAD. The reurn for soliciting voters (in THIS case) is far less important than getting the multiple candidates to coalesce into a winning team.
